It’s Basket Day!

It’s basket day at Bunny Hill and we’re going on a picnic! Are you ready?  It’s a cupcake picnic!  Here, go ahead and have one!  Help yourself!

If you get our newsletter you’ll have the recipe link for these cupcakes by Brigette.   If not, you can find it here!

I am in love with cupcakes and when it came to choosing something to put in the August basket, cupcakes were my first choice.  Of course we can’t have a picnic without a bug.   I love ladybugs too!

Here’s the appliqué version!

Block Eight

And, if you’re working on the redwork  you’re in for a treat!  I’ll show you a peek of the finished quilt!

And here’s another little surprise!  1” rick rack inserted into the binding of the appliqué quilt!  Can you see it in the picture below?   Applique Quilt sneak peek

The rick rack is a pretty peachy/rose color and it adds the finishing touch.  It’s easy to do and you can buy it here (requires  5   1/2 yd).   I’ll give you the directions for inserting the rick rack soon.  So easy!

  • Miss Jean - I love the cupcakes – to eat and to sew! I really, really like the idea of the ric-rack inserted in the binding! Brilliant!ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - Hi Anne. Thanks for the lovely recipe, oh yes, and the block :). I'm looking forward to making and tasting them and the sun's shining today – the first time for ages. I love the ric-rack edge to the quilt as well. It makes it so pretty. I'm going to Cowslip Workshops at Launceston in Cornwall tomorrow to see an exhibition and I know Jo sells ric-rack so I can get some there and look at fabrics for my sashing. Bliss :)

Glad you liked the 'bunny' candy and vintage tags I sent you, they had you written all over them at Easter, I just had to send them your way.

  • seaross47 - I love the ric-rack idea. I've seen it used in several magazines lately & I really like the look of it. I guess the saying is true, what's old is new again.ReplyCancel

  • julia - Hi Anne,

hmmmmm…cupcakes…my (not so) secret love ;o). I think you just showed another thing I just need – the cupcake display is gorgeous (and so are of course the cupcakes on them). It seems I still live in the wrong country – I haven't seen anything like that in my neck of the wood, so I'm once again glad for the internet ;o).

Speaking of "once again" – yes, it's going to be boring, but once again you outdid yourself. The new block is beyond cute, I love the ladybug, and the basket's filling!
What a sweet surprise to use giant ric rac! Sadly I was too slow to order it (I think I would have been great with the "Dandelion Girl" fabric I chose for the quilt).

Oh, and the finished quilt sneak peeks – just adorable!

    Hugs, JuliaReplyCancel
