20,017 Comments For One Giveaway!

Can you imagine?  It’s true!  When The Pioneer Woman does a giveaway, she gets between 10,000 and 20.000 comments.  Check out her June 23rd cooking post.  Me,not having a clue, actually entered one of her giveaways.  She divided  it into 3 groups,  my comment was something like number 401.  Great I thought!  First one in the third group. Here I am I shouted and waved my arms right in front of my computer.  I was sure one of the three pink Kitchenaid mixers she was giving away was mine!

Pink Mixer

Ha! Did my jaw drop!  Over 10,000 comments in that one and #401 was swallowed  by the random number generator.

Over in photography she was giving away more things.  I figured out that to read all those comments you would have to start at dawn and go on for days.  Days of nothing but reading comments.  Strange how my mind even thinks of something like that.  LOL!

She won the 2009 Blogger Awards for best blog and if you haven’t visited you should!

And now to the point of this post, finally! It’s true I really want that mixer, but you can learn so much from her photography posts!  Read them, take out your camera and follow along!  I did!  Had no idea you could move the focus point around on a camera.  You can! Check out the photo of my pencil drawer!  I focused on the glass knob…the rest of the photo is blurry on purpose!

Focus point on left

Next time I’ll focus on some eyes or a quilt block or something exciting for you!   For now I hope you enjoy her blog.  She has great photos, recipes and garden and decorating tips.

Back soon,  thinking about that mixer.  Should I use a credit card?

  • Miss Jean - I have been a fan of the Pioneer Woman for as long as I've been blogging. Her's is one of the first blogs I came across (along with yours and Joanna's). Have your read her Black Heels to Tractor Wheels story? She's an awesome writer. This fall she's coming out with a cook book. Nothing this girl can't do!

The things we buy that are pink! I for one, have a pink Dyson vacuum!ReplyCancel

  • Pamela - I have an adoable pink kitchenaid ~ just like in your photo and I love it, now I am searching for a sewing maching!!ReplyCancel

  • Goosegirl - I had never heard of the Pioneer Woman but I need major help with my photography, so I had better head on over there. I am sorry you did not win the pink kitchenaid……mine is RED and I love it soooo much!

But I am very, very jealous of your pink sewing machine too.

  • Amanda M. - There is a KitchenAid outlet in Ohio that I went to, and got one of the big mixers for pretty cheap! But since you are far from Ohio, I think, check out on Ebay – they have lots of mixers at pretty cheap prices, and lots of colors. Good luck! ;)ReplyCancel

  • stitchin' scribe - Yes, go the credit card, I've been drooling over one of those little pink beauties for quite awhile. Here in Aus. at my local store, their last little pinkie (the pink is being phased out) is retailing for $799AUD.
Thanks for the great link to Pioneer Woman and thanks to Miss Jean for the hint on reading Black Heels to Tractor WheelsReplyCancel

  • Rebekah - oh, I just love your pencil drawer! Is that an old sewing drawer? I just refinished one myself that I am using to put on my ironing board to hold my ironing supplies! I just love vintage!

  • Sweet P - I love the Pinoeer Woman! Congrats on winning one of the mixers.ReplyCancel

  • Vicky - If you win something at Pioneer Girl's site with a bajillion entries, I'm taking you to Vegas!!! :)ReplyCancel

  • Barb - I'm one of the ga-jillion fans/readers of The Pioneer Woman, too, and I figure the odds of winning anything at her site are pretty small – what that site needs are a few more readers-ha!ha! (now there's an understatement!!). But, it is an AMAZING site – lots of fun.

However, I absolutely LOVE your site – it is truly one of my favorites and I look at it nearly everyday :). Thank you so much.ReplyCancel

  • Happy Cottage Quilter - I've been reading Pioneer woman for a long time. And Yes it is truly amazing at the audience that Ree gathers. Get your credit card out and get the mixer! You won't regret it. I read her tips on taking pictures, but I only have a very old point and shoot digital, and for now it is working :-)ReplyCancel

  • Auntie Pami - Have you looked at William-Sonoma? go to their site and type in "pink". Wow. Wonder if it would match my red stove knobs?ReplyCancel

  • Suzanne@NotesfromthePatch - Kinda makes you appreciate our intimate little group of followers doesn't it? I don't think I could handle the pressure of that many readers!ReplyCancel

  • mahladybug - Yes on getting the credit card out. If it's pink I have to have it. I think I have all the pink quilting tools that are on the market so far. I will also check out the Pioneer Woman as I need all the help I can get taking photos. Enjoy your day.ReplyCancel

  • Dawn - Wow!! Congrats on the win!!ReplyCancel

  • Susan - I'm a follower of PW, and just love her giveaways. I know the odds are slim to none that I'll ever win anything, but there's always that little tiny chance! LOL

My son loves her photography. I need to start paying more attention so I can take better pics for my Etsy shop.ReplyCancel

  • Linda - I'm 17! That puts you on the road to 20017! LOL
Don't you wonder how many helpers she has to hire to go thru what is virtually fan mail like a rock star? And I have trouble keeping up with the few followers I have! LOL
I got my cream colored Kitchenaid at an auction and a few months later got a second one just like it for a song. I love it and won't be giving it up for anything.
P.S. I do love to check out PW…..ReplyCancel

  • Magnolia Bay Quilts - That mixer has your name all over it! Thanks for the link to her blog.ReplyCancel

  • mascanlon - Oh I love PW. Check out the recipes, the olive cheese bread is perfect to add to the BBQ steaks and salad on the weekend menu! I am anxiously waiting for the BOM to start at FatQuarters…and wishing I had the same fabric for the baskets!ReplyCancel

  • julia - Hi Anne,
I love to stop at the PW blog from time to time…awesome pictures and a lot of great tips.
She's giving away those Kitchen Aid mixers from time to time ~ my fingers are crossed that next time you're the lucky winner! ;o) Maybe if Chelsea crosses her paw, too, it works??
BTW, by giving me the link to the website where you've purchased your featherweight, you irreversibly infected me with another addiction ;o)
    Hugs, JuliaReplyCancel

  • Carrie P. - Oh, too bad. Maybe next time.ReplyCancel

  • Amy Roth - Thanks for the link to PW. I feel so completely insignificant compared to her talent, her ability to help work a cattle ranch, raise FOUR kids, and maintain her fabulous web site! And she's beautiful to boot! She's got great stuff there and I've bookmarked her site.ReplyCancel

  • Carrie - Williams-Sonoma has them on sale right now ~ it looks like they are being discontinued. The KA pink handmixers look to be on their way out too. I would get one of the big mixers for you at my store ~ we have one left ~ but the savings would be eaten up by the shipping costs… but if you can't find one and you want it… let me know!

I really covet the new 90th Anniversary edition… red metallic. It's beyond gorgeous. I keep trying to figure out a way to "drop" my current work-horse Kitchen Aid to break it without cracking the foundation of the house. :)

And the Pioneer Woman's blog is amazing… but then, so it she. She takes after you that way. ;)ReplyCancel

  • piecemealquilts - I happened across the PW blog through a food blog, smitten kitchen. Pioneer Woman is an AMAZING blog with something for everyone. She has a photography section, a home schooling section, a food section, a home and garden section and a "confessions" section. I love to read about her family because she so clearly adores them. And Marlboro Man's got some mighty nice forearms. (It's okay to appreciate another woman's husband's arms if you'll never ever meet these people, isn't it?)ReplyCancel

  • melissa - I was shopping for kitchenaid mixers today and noticed that Sears.com has very good prices. There are also some good options at the kitchenaid site. I haven't decided if I'm ready to buy such a serious mixer (grin).
