15 Days and Counting!

And the lion shall lay down with the lamb…

But at my house the lamb is glittered pink, and who knows what color the lion will be. I haven’t found a lion I love yet. Humm…wonder if they come in pink?

I started counting the days with this beautiful advent calendar my friend Nancy made for me. (It has pockets and little treats in each pocket!). Well, I got to day 10 and it hit me! 10 plus 15 is 25! No, no, no we can’t have Christmas this fast! I’m not ready at all! It seems for every step I take forward I take two steps back. No presents are wrapped, and the UPS truck keeps arriving. I bought everything online this year, so brown boxes are stacking up and to find time to wrap is next to impossible. Do you feel like this? Where did the time go?

I know Christmas will arrive wrapped presents or not, and at least I’ve finished decorating. It looks like Christmas even if I’m not ready!

I collect snowmen so I thought it only fitting to have a container filled with them. I found an old box, painted it red and then painted snowmen on the front. These are decorating our kitchen!

Ho, Ho, Ho, I got a bit carried away. There were some plain wood eggs just sitting in a bowl and I couldn’t stand it. Once I had the red paint out it was so easy to just keep going.

A feather tree with my childhood ornaments sits on our family room coffee table. I can remember a time when I hated these ornaments. I wanted newer ones, different ones, and I kept these in a box in the garage for the longest time. Then one day I took them out, hung them on this tree and knew that they were somehow beautiful. Funny how that happens!

The kitchen counter gets enamelware cups, filled with berry sprays. I put floral foam in the cups to hold the spays.

And the living room gets the tree again this year. It’s the perfect place to sit and read. And on Christmas morning this is where we open presents (If they ever get wrapped)!

Aside from collecting bunnies, lambs, snowmen, chocolate molds etc. etc., I also have a bear collection that comes out every Christmas. This is a shared collection because my husband keeps finding bears and we add them to the collection. Most are “rescues” but I’ve hidden a couple of the pedigree bears in the crowd. You know, like the FAO Swartz bear…he’s in there somewhere! A tic tac game sits on the coffee table every year. It’s been played over and over!

And my favorite snowlady…an angel!

So remember those old ornaments when you decorate. Separate them from the rest and give them a place of honor. All of a sudden the won’t look so old!

    Merry Christmas Anne! – I love reading your blog and looking at all the beautiful pictures you include. From what I see of your home – I can only dream of having that much talent. I have made several of your patterns, including "Catch a Christmas star" and am looking forward to making "Autum House". You have a wonderful selection of new "trims" on your website that I look forward to ordering in the new year. I can already see lots of uses (other than quilts!) for them> I also paint and make dolls as well. I am also a lover of bears and have a very large collection of them. They used to drive my husband crazy. Then we moved into a new house and they stayed packed for several months until I finished painting and decorating. He then asked "when are you putting out the bears, it doesn't look right around here without them". I have then scattered everywhere in the house, in every room. Your lambs are very cute! Did you make them? You should make a pattern for them! I would offer to come and wrap for you but I think I am too far away – Grande Prairie, Alberta Canada but I would love to anyway. Have a wonderful holiday season! Don't worry, you'll get it done!

    Beautiful decorations Anne! I love your little tree with your old ornaments. I separate all of my glass ornaments like those and give them a separate tree too!

    As always, everything you do is so cozy and cute!! I know how you feel—-I have the last presents wrapped, but still have to embroider 4 stockings for my sister in law!!! Hope to do all that shipping tomorrow!

    I’m so horribly jealous of how Christmassy and cosy your house seems ;-) This is my first year without an advent calendar (can you believe at the tender age of 30+ my parents didn’t send me one this year!) so I’m very jealous of your advent calendar too ……

    P.S. Wrapping is one of my favorite things in the world …

    So very happy I came across your Blog. I searched your website for the little bird and little dog pincushion and finally found them. However, no where did I read what was needed to make these. Regular cotton or wool and if wool how much etc. Can you tell me? I love to have a so called kit for both of these. Thanks Rae

    Beautiful! Thanks for sharing! Our favorite tree ornaments are similar to the ones that are on your feather tree – they’re older than my husband. He rescued them from the trash when his parents moved! I wish there were more!

    Well I’m a HUGE snow people fan and a pink lamb. Somehow I believe you’ll find a pink lion. Absolutely gorgeous Christmas home you have.

    Oh, Anne! As much as I hate gift wrapping presents I will volunteer to come over and do yours – no payment needed. That way I can see your over the top beautiful home. Course, I’ll have to wear a bib because of all the droooooooling going on. Pink lamb – PRECIOUS!

    You have some lovely collections Anne. I really didn’t need to see the math leaving us two weeks till Christmas…yikes…It is always the cards that are overwhelming to me. Just too many..Love the bear collection. I do believe it outnumbers mine..Louise

    Those glittery lambs are the cutest things ever! Did you make them?
    I collect snowmen, too. Last year we called our decorating motif “Snowman-a-palooza”. This year, my daughter has renamed it “Snowman-ifesto”. FUN!
