Gifts of Time and Family

Tonight is a special night for us…it’s the first time our Grand-daughters are spending the night at our new home. It’s only about 1/2 mile from where they live, but our lives have been so crazy that we haven’t been able to share much of our time. As I look at the stack of presents in the closet still waiting to be wrapped, and the list of things to do, I realize that the real gift of Christmas is time spent together creating memories. So tonight we will create some Christmas memories at our house. Absolutely something we should do more often, as the time seems to just fly by and before long they will think of a night at grandma’s house differently!

So, as I tuck my girls into bed tonight I’ll say a little prayer for more time, more memories and that they will be able to fall asleep before Grandma does!

From my sweet friends Barbara and Nancy, I’ve received some gifts I will treasure forever. I wanted to share them with all of you. They remind me of home, and the memories inside…

My friend Nancy came by last week with this beautiful advent calendar from Germany! It’s now the center decoration on my dinning room table. It’s one of those things I will treasure every year, and think of her every Christmas!

In front of the house I placed these 3 little rabbits from my friend Barbara. They are perfect on the table and another thing that makes me smile.

This was a gift from Barbara from last year…a pefect ending to this post!

Tell me how you create your holiday memories and maybe someone else will start a new tradition !

Hugs to all!

  • Jean - You are so fortunate to have such loving friends. I just love the rabbit holding the baby. Do you know who it is by? I collect rabbit statues for the back yard. My latest is a topiary bunny surrounded by white and yellow violas planted in a pot. The grandsons have to find out where Grandma put the new bunny when they come over. Happy Hollidays.ReplyCancel

  • gloria g. - Oh Anne, how fortunate you are that you live near your little ones. As children, both of my parents parents were already gone, but our children and grand children live in other states. We only get to see them about every other year! But my favorite Christmas movie is Prancer, and when we are together, we always watch it and others with lot’s of pop corn, soda and goodies! Keep it up, one day they will have such wonderful memories! And in your new home! fondly, gloria g. Richards, TXReplyCancel

  • Jean-o - Grandkids…. Heavenly Fathers way of saying we did all right letting our kids survive! LoL!
We have a family Christmas tradition that my DH and I started when we were first married. We cut a tree down each year and when we get it ready for the tree stand, we cut off a small piece of the trunk. Then we write on it the year and something that happened during the year. For this year, we had a daughter that got married, our last child at home. We have all of the tree pieces in a small sleigh so everyone can remember the good times we have had. We are missing a few years, due to the fact that we had an artifical tree for a few years… they just don’t seem to be as tall when you cut those pieces off each year soooo we had to quit! Just kidding!
Your blog is cute, and what wonderful friends you have to share such sweet gifts!ReplyCancel
