Sweet Little Nest!

I’m nesting, trying to get my house in order. I’ve been searching the Internet for “nesting necessities” and little treasures are arriving bit by bit! In my search for the perfect things, (such as the sweet little nest you see above) I came upon the cutest little blog to share with you! http://the-feathered-nest.blogspot.com/ I found it because my friend Anne sent me to another cute blog called http://www.plumtreeantiques.blogspot.com/ …and so it goes, on and on! So many talented people and not enough time to visit them all!

I promise more pictures very soon. I’m waiting for the UPS man as I write!

Friday’s Class

Magnetic pin holders made from tiny little butter plates!

Once a month, I have the sweetest group of ladies who meet at our local quilt store, Thimble Creek, for a class and a “get together”. Last Friday I had a project prepared and we each made magnetic pin plates. This is such an easy project you may want to try it yourself! First I went on the hunt for small butter plates and I found them at an antique store in Oregon. You could also use china saucers or bread plates. Purchase a 1 1/2″ magnet. Using a hot glue gun, glue the magnet to the bottom side of your plate. I used the “jewelry” glue sticks, but the “all purpose” might work. If your little plate is opaque you may want to paint your magnet first to avoid the shadow underneath. The stronger your magnet is the more pins it will hold! We used magnets that are magnetic on only one side. but if you use a double-sided magnet they might hold more pins. Oh these came out so cute!

We also had a show and tell and Vicki Chambers and Jean Deziak of Napa, brought their “Cream and Sugar” quilt to share. This was a joint effort quilt project made for a mutual friend. What a sweet thing to do for a friend, the lucky lady! What amazed me so much about their quilt…instead of making the scalloped border like the pattern, they inserted eyelet lace trim into the border seam. They mitered the corners of the lace and then the left it loose. No need to stitch the lace down! A round of applause please for these creative ladies! I may have to borrow this idea in the future!

Enlarge this photo so you can see the lace trim!

I have no idea why this photo isn’t enlarging! Sorry ):

As if the trim wasn’t enough they added a few more embellishments around the leaves!

So now I’m all inspired and it’s back to work on some applique designs!

Sisters Quilt Show Day!

Saturday was the perfect day for a quilt show and we watched the little town of Sisters, Oregon come to life with quilts and quilters! It was amazing, exciting and fun! Quilts were hung throughout the town and the little shops were dressed in their Sunday best for everyone to see! Between shopping and looking at quilts we were in heaven!

The local fire department helps to hang the quilts on the side of the Stitchin Post Quilt Shop.

Jean Wells, owner of The Stitchin Post, has made this show a work of art. Never have I seen anything so organized. Amazing is the word for the team work that goes into this quilt show!

The road through town was blocked off and quilters took over !

Cute little shops were everywhere…a feast for the eyes on every block!

Then we were off to visit a local quilt shop in Bend, Oregon…”Sew Many Quilts” !

Brenda (Acorn Quilts) and I both had trunk shows at the shop so we stopped in to say hello. This is one of the cutest shops in Oregon, with little vignettes everywhere. Antique pieces of furniture were stacked with fabric, quilts and little treasures. A cottage feel, with something for everyone. They made so many kits they have some left over, so if you’re looking for a Bunny Hill Quilt kit you might give them a call, 541-385-7166!

If you’re a quilt shop owner that has kits for Bunny Hill patterns available, please email me. I’m thinking of having a blog list for quilt kits! anne@bunnyhilldesigns.com I’d love to add you to my list!

Yesterday I took Brenda to the airport. Bye Bren! It was a wonderful trip! Today it’s back to work! Time is flying by and the bunnies had better get busy!

Austin, California and Oregon in one week!

It’s been a week of travel and fun! Brenda (Acorn Quilts) and I have been to Austin, California and Oregon! Then on Tuesday it’s back to California! We started in Austin with a visit to see Emma Jolly! Her mom and dad happen to own the Fat Quarter Shop, but we didn’t go to see them. This little girl is so special we went to see her! Sorry mom and dad! It’s all about Emma!

Then it was back to California for a lunch with Pam (Pam Kitty Morning) and Elizabeth (Late Bloomer) and a visit to In Between Stitches, that wonderful quilt store in Livermore, California! Pam treated us to lunch and it was a good thing because I spent all my money in the quilt shop (:

Then off to Oregon for the Sister’s Quilt Show and antiquing! Chelsea came along, rode in her car seat the whole trip with her best friend Noel next to her. I’ve posted pictures so you can come along with us!
